What is RADON?

RADON is an invisible radioactive gas that can enter a house through the soil.  RADON has been found in every state and the U.S. Department of Environmental Protection (EPA) puts the "acceptable" level of RADON gas at below 4 pCi/L.

RADON is listed as a cause of lung cancer and is listed as a known human carcinogen.  Every home should be tested to find the RADON levels present.

Testing for RADON

Testing for RADON is inexpensive and can be added to any Home Inspection that Park House provides.  Park House is certified by the State of Pennsylvania to perform RADON testing.  We use only EPA approved RADON testing methodologies.  All RADON testing by Park House is done on special calibrated laboratory equipment which assures accurate readings.

What if the RADON Reading is High?

If the RADON level is found to be at a high level (at or above 4 pCi/L), a RADON Mitigation System is recommended to reduce the RADON.  Retesting is done after a Mitigation System is installed to ensure the system is working properly and RADON levels are at an acceptable level.

Park House can also install a RADON Mitigation System.  This is another licensed field by the State of Pennsylvania.   Please select the RADON MITIGATION tab for further information.

Potential for RADON in Pennsylvania

Highest Potential (greater than 4 pCi/L)

    Moderate Potential (from 2 to 4 pCi/L)

Low Potential (less than 2 pCi/L)

Lehigh Valley RADON Testing:  Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, Emmaus

Pocono RADON Testing:  Stroudsburg, Milford, Mt. Pocono, Windgap, Sciota
